New HD Group Forming!

In the last several years, Ed has helped good potential dealer principals acquire Harley-Davidson dealerships. He remains an active business partner with them until they buy him out. Last year, in cooperation with the Motor Company, his 6 partner dealerships and 6 others joined together to form PG-17. In addition to the reports and measurements provided by HDMC, Laura provides a "Lemco" composite and our St. Croix office provides weekly tracking of key indicators that drive sales in all departments. It is interesting to note that PG-17 was the only group that increased their new unit sales in 2009 vs. 2008.

Since several PG-17 members are considering additional acquisitions, the group is limited in accepting new members at this time. I am leading an effort to form a new Harley-Davidson PG group in cooperation with the Motor Company. Laura will moderate this group and provide a strong focus on driving sales while maximizing performance in the other departments as well. We will have collaboration with PG-17 in sharing best practices, averages and top performance benchmarks (non dealer-specific information).

We are looking for dealer principals who can implement proven management practices and who are willing to focus on the key indicators and drivers of business performance to join this dynamic new PG group.  Another option is participating in the reporting only. Dealers receive individual numbers, client averages, and benchmarks comparing to the top performers. We can also provide the supplemental reports to existing PG groups.

We are looking to start reporting in August and to have our inaugural meeting in October in Milwaukee. There will be two 20 Club meetings a year in central airport-hub locations (no dealership visitations), conference calls, and additional resources for department managers.
